Beaumont, CA Real Estate, Beaumont Area and Community Information

Beaumont, California, is a booming Riverside County community. It is conveniently located along I-10 between San Bernadino and Palm Springs. This prosperous city is now home to about 40,000 individuals.

In the mid-19th century, groups of surveyors traversed this part of California in search of a mountain pass that would facilitate travel to the Pacific Ocean from the east. Success was achieved in 1853 when San Gorgonio Pass was discovered by Lt. R.S. Williamson. Within a decade, the Southern Pacific Railroad had routed tracks through present-day Beaumont. A train depot called Edgar Station was built at the summit of the pass, and a community called San Gorgonio eventually grew around the depot. The community was incorporated as Beaumont in 1912. The success of apple growers in the region led to it becoming known as the land of the "big red apple."
